Pink’s considered the universal color of love, a color of happiness and femininity, but also a color of childhood and overly sweet things. And this is how pink can often be thought of when worn– quite innocent and even childish. But pink can be just as elegant and sophisticated as any other color. Moreover, pink is beautifully feminine and I believe it to be a bit of a ‘girl power’ color. When wearing pink maturely it’s all about moderation and simplicity. A bright pink top with matching bag and shoes could be a bit overpowering, but paired with a variation of colors or worn as a bold accessory can create a grown up, stylish look. I have styled three looks, in my own personal style as some ideas and inspiration for how pink can be worn maturely.
Pink doesn’t have to be worn in super girly fashion, it works just as well in a laid back casual look. In this look I paired a pastel pink jumper with casual black trousers finished by throwing a leather jacket around my shoulders. Nude pink heels finish off the look giving it a stylish sleek finish. A perfect look for lunch or a casual night out with friends.
Hint of Pink
Second look featuring just one item of pink in the form of my bright pink New Balance trainers. Pairing the bold shoes with an all black outfit creates a grown up yet fun day time look. Using just a hint of pink means the color isn’t overwhelming and that even those who think they couldn’t wear pink can give it a try. For those with a less feminine style, update the skirt with shorts and even a white shirt for a more androgynous look.
An evening look featuring a block pink full silk skirt. Wearing pink in a luxurious fabric and a delicate shade creates an elegant mature evening look. To follow a classic vibe pairing a Breton stripe top and oversized pearls with the skirt, gives a nod to the queen of elegance herself- Coco Chanel. Finished with black accessories, an oversized leather clutch and pointed stilettos, to compliment the black stripes on the top. This look would also work well with ankle boots, an oversized bag and scarf for an on trend daytime alternative.
So that’s my advice for wearing pink in a delicate, mature fashion, the Styled with Glamour way. Thanks for reading
