What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs,

blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and

format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Sometimes college students end up attending schools that are far away from home and you only get to see them for holiday recess and summer break, but that doesn't mean they don't need your support. Or maybe they go to a close university and choose not to come home often, or maybe their birthday is coming up and you want them to know you’re thinking of them during that exciting time. No matter your reason for wanting to send a care package -- your student will love it!

Sometimes college clubs, athletics, or student life will send a letter to families offering to deliver care packages to students around holidays such as Halloween, or during stressful times like finals. Families can choose from a few options, but the items in the care package are already pre-selected, which may mean your student will receive things they don’t like. This can sometimes be frustrating because the care packages are expensive and you want to be sure your student actually wants and loves everything they receive. In other words -- you want your money to be well spent!

Now, you can avoid your student’s school care package service altogether and customize a care package of your own. You don’t need a special occasion to send a care package either, you can do it whenever you want and with the ability to select every item your student will receive -- ensuring they get all of their favorites!

The custom care package service from OCM gives you the ability to create a care package of your own with three different sizing options, add a personalized note, and send it directly to your student. The packages come in a small box -- $30, medium box -- $50, and a large box -- $80. This gives you the option to go as big or small as you want. No matter the option you decide, you will always have the ability to individually select all the items in the box.

Building your custom care package is an easy three step process, which we will walk you through!

Step 1

Select and Pack Your Box

First of all -- why send a care package? You don’t need an important event, such as a birthday, or finals as a reason to send your student something special. Surprising them with a care package is a great way to boost their spirits, let them know you’re rooting for them, and maybe even make their whole day. College is stressful and can sometimes bring down your student’s mood, so anything you send them will be well received and greatly appreciated!

Now you may be asking yourself, when is the appropriate time to send a care package? The short answer is really whenever you want. If you don’t feel comfortable sending them a random care package in the middle of the semester, then save it for a special occasion. For example, Halloween is a great occasion to send your student a care package. After all, it’s about treats! So, that means you can send them lots of candy and any other snacks or treats you think they may love.

Finals are also a great time to send a care package. This is because students become hunkered down in one place and spend the majority of their time studying and writing papers. So, they may not have time to head to the store and grab some brain food. You can make it easy for them by sending a supply of snacks and quick meals to keep them going all throughout finals week!

When you get to the website you’ll see there are three steps you need to take to successfully send your student a care package. Step one is select your box size and fill it with all of their favorite snacks, treats, and more! Step two is add a personalized note of your liking, and step three is to send off your package.

In this section we’ll be focusing on step one, so first things first -- select your box size. If you know how big you want it to be then perfect! If not, during the item selection process for what goes inside the box, you always have the ability to upgrade or downgrade the size.

Once you select your box size, the options from there are endless. You can customize a package for your student’s birthday, back to school, sweet treat surprise, healthy fitness and protein snacks, and even spa day items like face masks.

You have ten categories to filter through, which can be overwhelming, so we’ll break it down for you here! The categories are:

  • Birthday
  • Breakfast
  • Candy
  • Chips
  • Cookies and crackers
  • Drinks and meals
  • Healthy foods
  • School supplies
  • Fitness and protein
  • Spa items

This may help direct you towards what type of box you're aiming for -- whether it be a “back to school necessities” box or one just for fun, to let them know that you’re thinking of them!

The school supplies category is a fun option because you can send your student items they may need like pencils, pens, highlighters, and flashcards, in addition to delicious snacks and treats. Similarly, the birthday category can bring the party to their dorm room if you can’t be there to celebrate with them! You have the option to gift a birthday sash, bracelet, beads, confetti, cotton candy, birthday cake flavored treat bars, and more.

Also, if your student has special dietary restrictions or needs, you have the option to filter snacks and treats based on their needs. You can filter results based on nut free, gluten free, and vegan needs. This can come in handy if you student is allergic to nuts or may have a gluten intolerance!

After you’ve searched through all the categories and scooped up their favorite snacks and candy, you can move to the personalization part of the care package.

Step 2

Personalize Your Note

Once you have successfully filled your box to its maximum capacity, you have the option to add a personalized note directly from you to your student.

When you get to this step, like the previous one, you have a lot of options! The first field you need to fill in is -- what occasion are you sending the care package for? We’ll list the options below to give you some more ideas:

  • Final exams
  • St. Patrick's Day
  • Easter
  • Off to College
  • Thank you
  • Thinking of you
  • Halloween
  • Out of the blue
  • Christmas
  • Get well soon
  • Valentine
  • Birthday
  • Happy Holidays

Hopefully these categories will influence your reason for sending a care package! Now, once you select your occasion, you will then get to decide what kind of image will go on the greeting card. The website will generate a number of images based on the occasion you select. You can also upload your own image if you would rather do that!

In the next three fields, you will enter who the card is going to, write your message, and say who it’s from. You get 55 characters for your message so you can make it long and creative or short and sweet. However, emojis cannot be printed, so you’ll have to forgo those and instead write out the emotions! The more you personalize the card and keep it fun and upbeat, the more your student will enjoy it.

Step 3

Send Your Love

Does your special student have a strong sweet tooth? You can customize their care package to include all of their favorite candies and sweet treats. Image courtesy of OCM.

Once you’ve finished steps 1 and 2, the only thing left to do is send the care package to your student! This entails your basic online checkout procedures of shipping address, billing address, payment information, shipping, etc.

The only difference is you’ll need your student’s college address, which is typically a box number if they live in campus residential housing. If they live in an apartment, they may have their own mailbox or a P.O. box.

You might go about asking for their address in a number of creative ways. You could outright ask for it and tell them you’re sending something to them if you want to make them excited and anticipate the arrival of whatever may be coming. Or you could be sneaky and tell them you have to ship them something they forgot at home, and surprise! They’ll be completely caught off guard and excited about their care package.

No matter how you go about doing this, they will love getting their care package and seeing all of their favorite snacks and treats inside of it.

Hopefully this article has given you some creative ideas on what type of care package you want to send to your student and all the fun possibilities you can fill their box with. The step by step guide in this article will mimic the process of making your custom care package, so you know what you’re doing going into it!

No matter the reason for sending a custom care package, your student will warmly receive it and it will put a big smile on their face. After they’ve received their care package, expect a thank you phone call or text from them filled with excitement and lots of love. Happy customizing!
