What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs,

blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and

format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Living off campus this semester might be one of the best times to experience independence and living alone or with a few roommates. You are allowed to create your own schedule, go about your day in your own manner, and live free of restrictions. It also lets you attend class safely from your own place, and if your college courses are all online this semester, you can have a bigger space to learn and live in as opposed to a small dorm room.

There are pros and cons to off campus living -- on the downside you are responsible for your own bills, groceries, and cleaning. However, since this is your space, you can decorate it according to your personal preferences.

When living in university housing, your dorm room comes furnished with a bed frame and mattress, dresser or wardrobe, and a desk with a desk chair. Despite the convenience of having these items provided for you, they are far from glamorous or stylish and are typically made from basic wooden hardware.

Sprucing up these items can require a lot of work -- however, since you will be living in your own apartment this means you get to furnish it with the items you like the most! Let’s not forget about what we came here to talk about -- the bathroom.

College dorm bathrooms often lack decor and personal touches and that’s because they are typically shared with multiple or a few people, so there is often no reason to add more than your basic shower curtain and bath mat.

But the good news is you can decorate your apartment bathroom down to the very last touch. You can add a cute matching shower curtain and bath mat, shelving, change the lighting, update with a beautiful mirror, and place artistic elements!

We’ve put together a list of simple ways to dramatically transform your rental apartment bathroom into a cute, relaxing space that makes you feel comfortable and at home. Let’s get into it!

  • Start With a Shower Curtain and Bath Mat
  • Shelving, Baskets, and Other Storage
  • Cover With a Rug
  • Lighting and Mirrors
  • Add Art

Start With a Shower Curtain and Bath Mat

A new shower curtain will brighten and liven up the space instantly -- this is a bathroom essential that you absolutely need.

The easiest and simplest way to freshen up your bathroom quickly and effectively is through a new shower curtain and bath mat. Your apartment bathroom might come with a basic plain white or clear shower curtain, but probably won’t have one at all -- so it’s essential that you arrive on move in day with your new shower curtain. Otherwise you won’t be showering your first night unless you want to clean up water that will splatter all over the floor!

Plastic shower curtains can be bought plain, in a color or sometimes with a design or pattern printed on them. Even though these will suffice, we highly recommend that you get both a plastic liner and a fabric shower curtain. This will help make your space feel more put together, sophisticated, and like you’re a real adult!

You’ll also need a matching bath mat to go with your new shower curtain. Bathroom floors are typically tile, hardwood, vinyl, or laminate -- these can become very slippery when wet so we suggest getting a bath mat for your safety.

The bath mat doesn’t have to match the shower curtain exactly. If you want to pair the same color you can, but as long as the bath mat matches one of the colors in your shower curtain, they will pair well.

We love the look of this Ruffle Diamond Shower Curtain! The simple neutral gray color will pair with any other accent color you may want to add and look great with decor. The ruffle texture adds a feminine touch that immediately elevates the space through its elegant texture. Already will the addition of this shower curtain and matching gray, white, or black bath mat -- the space is on its way to a full upgrade!

Shelving, Baskets, and Other Storage

baskets
Bathroom storage baskets are a quick way to create extra space and store items while still looking stylish and decorative. Image courtesy of Good to Know.

If there’s one common trend when it comes to apartment rental bathrooms, it’s the lack of adequate storage space. These bathrooms are very basic and the necessary components and not much else. If you’re lucky, you may have a mirror medicine cabinet already installed or a bathroom sink installed on a storage cabinet with pull out drawers or open space for bins or baskets.

If you don’t have any storage space at all -- you’ll have to create your own either through shelves, baskets, a roller cart, or some DIY piece.

Floating shelves are a great option because you can place them where you like, they are relatively inexpensive, and easy to install. One set of shelves usually comes with two or three pieces -- so you’ll only need to purchase one set unless you want multiple shelves. You can buy storage bins or baskets to set on the shelves, or you can place your items directly on the shelves.

Baskets are a great option because they keep the space tidy and clutter free. You can buy a big or small basket and set it right on the floor and it will still look stylish. This is because baskets are modern, ornate, and look classy every time. Their texture elevates the space and makes it feel more homey. They can hold everything from towels to bathroom essentials and magazines to plant life, we love their versatility!

If you need a more practical and straightforward way to create extra storage space -- consider an over the toilet space saver. These usually come with two or three open storage shelves. We think they are very practical and a great way of gaining extra space -- since they go over the toilet, you don’t have to compromise any bathroom space.

The sleek chrome finish and sturdy metal racks make this piece both stylish and functional. The metal look is modern and able to pair with all of your other bathroom essential and decor items. The functionality is great because the open shelves make for easy access -- and we always suggest utilizing vertical space. Since nothing was over your toilet to begin with, you gain space rather than lose it!

Cover With a Rug

rugs
Rugs are a great way to add color where necessary and show off your personality through colors, textures, patterns, and designs.

If you have enough extra space, we suggest getting a decorative rug for your bathroom. Either to place in front of your mirror or sink, where you will be doing a lot of standing. Your knees will be thankful for the extra cushion.

A small decorative rug can easily add a pop of color, additional texture, or a design or pattern that showcases your personality. A fun rug can lighten anyone's mood and they have so much to offer the space with their charm and charisma.

Rugs brighten the space, add character, and make the space feel uniquely yours -- so don’t skip out on this chance to add more personal touches to your bathroom.

Lighting and Mirrors

Mirrors make any space instantly feel bigger and can add a sense of modernity to older apartment bathrooms.

Older apartments tend to be lacking when it comes to mirrors and lighting fixtures. They are often outdated and in need of modern touches. Fortunately both lighting fixtures and mirrors can be swapped for new and improved ones.

When it comes to lighting you have a few options -- improve what you already have to work with or replace altogether. Old fixtures and be swapped with a new cover, or you can improve the existing one through spray paint or new bulbs. You can also integrate a new lighting source if your bathroom needs serious renovations. Fixing this aspect of your bathroom can be cheap or expensive depending on what route you take -- the choice is yours.

Bathroom mirrors can easily be swapped for a more modern one. Circular mirrors are very popular for the modern appeal. Any mirror will instantly make your space feel bigger. So, the bigger the mirror, the bigger the space will feel. The hardware on the mirror can do a lot for the look you’re trying to achieve, a wooden frame can add a rustic touch whereas just the mirror itself adds an elegant, sophisticated feel.

Adding improvements to lighting and mirrors can do wonders to transform a bathroom from old and outdated to new and modern.

Add Art

wall art
Wall art is where your personal style shines through most depending on what type of art you enjoy!

Every bathroom needs decor and we highly recommend wall art -- because this is where your personality will shine through the most. Your taste in art says a lot about you -- whether you like mixed media abstract art or classic French painting, these styles are worlds apart and can give your guests further insight into who you are.

You can add canvases, small sculptures, a sign board -- and change what it says each day. You can also add a small tapestry that displays a funny or motivational quote. Sometimes in the morning or evening, a funny quote that brightens your day can be just what you needed.

Adding art serves as the finishing touch to your bathroom, so be sure to do this step last and watch as the entire space comes together to form one cohesive unit -- your new bathroom.

When it comes to your new apartment bathroom -- start with the basics, make sure you have adequate storage, then work on improving the space through improvements and artistic decor. Happy decorating!
