What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs,

blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and

format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

The college student in your life needs a little extra love and care this holiday season. They have been through the ringer during 2020. Last academic year didn’t end as planned with many missed events such as graduations, formals, concerts, art galleries, and other traditional year end events that all students look forward to.

Women opening gift

Then again, as the summer came to a close -- plans for the fall academic semester took a dramatically different turn from the norm. Students had to choose between living at home and receiving virtual instruction, or living on campus with a hybrid mixture of in-person and online classes.

Freshmen had a very different first semester from what they had imagined and planned with virtual orientation and move-in activities. This semester also included very few breaks and was crammed together with most colleges holding virtual finals around the end of November.

For these reasons, expect your college student to be burnt out! Give them a couple days to recuperate -- let them sleep in, watch movies all day cuddled under a warm blanket, drink coffee and eat snacks to their heart’s desire, they deserve it.

If you’ve got a little extra spending money this year -- splurge a little and get them something extra special. After a year filled with disappointments, unexpected changes, and adjustments -- they need some extra holiday cheer and excitement in their lives.

Whether it be a new bluetooth speaker, headphones, a waffle maker, or a relaxing hammock -- any gift is worth the smile that will be on their faces this holiday season. Treat them with kindness and give them something that is going to boost their mood and bring excitement and interest back into their lives.

Because after sitting through quarantine, being bored everyday with nothing to do -- they are jumping at the bit to get something new. Even an adult coloring book will suffice. Really anything that lets them know you care, are thinking about them, and support them will instantly bring them joy and comfort.

So, without further ado -- here are our favorite gifts under $50 for the college student in your life.

  • Hammock
  • Weighted Blanket
  • Cards Against Humanity (or other fun games)
  • Bluetooth Speaker
  • Matching Passport Cover and Luggage Tag
  • Cafe/Restaurant Gift Card
  • Mini Waffle Maker
  • Lapdesk

Who wouldn’t want to recline in a hammock while reading a Shakespeare play for British Literature?

‍Hammocks have become very popular on college campuses over the past few years. Many students who attend rural or suburban campuses with a lot of greenery enjoy reading, studying, and hanging out with friends while lounging in hammocks. Some students even use the campus buildings to their advantage and use them as supports to hang their hammocks.

When the weather becomes nice, every student wants to get outside and enjoy the fresh breeze and feel the warmth of the sun after being trapped inside all winter. However, since hammocks have become so popular, a few campuses have taken to banning them -- so check with your students' university before purchasing.

If the college student in your life enjoys the outdoors -- they can also use their new hammock and go to a local park to relax or hangout with friends. Some colleges and universities even have adventure clubs or outdoors clubs -- which often use hammocks during camping trips.

Either way, any college student will enjoy a hammock to relax in during the academic year and while at home for the summer. This will not be a bad gift -- trust us.

Weighted Blanket

If the college student in your life usually sleeps with three blankets at night because they like the feeling of being weighed down -- they will love this blanket. Image courtesy of Forbes.

If there’s anything we know about college -- it’s a high stress environment between the coursework, exams, presentations, extracurriculars, work, volunteering, all while trying to maintain a social life.

A weighted blanket is a great gift option if the college student in your life suffers from anxiety, stress, or both and needs a hug when you’re not around. Weighted blankets use deep touch therapy to help users achieve a deeper, more restful sleep each night while helping to reduce the feelings of stress and anxiety.

These blankets come in handy all year round and help a little extra during difficult times like finals or a week crammed with exams and presentations. If the college student in your life often feels hot at night -- there are cooling options for weighted blankets.

Sizes for weighted blankets can be decided based upon body weight, but can also be chosen by preference and what you think they may like. They can range anywhere from five to 25 pounds. You won’t be disappointed with this purchase and your college student will thank you for it every night.

Cards Against Humanity or Another Fun Game

Fun card games are often played before the party to liven the mood and get everyone in the spirit.

Sometimes, college life can get extremely boring -- especially if your student attends a university in a rural or suburban setting where they can’t escape to the city or find many fun activities to do with friends.

After a while, the party scene gets old and the weekends become times where students hangout in their rooms, watch movies with a group of friends, or just relax. They would enjoy a game to switch things up every now and then.

A fun game to play with friends can offer some entertainment for a few nights out of the year. If you’re thinking they’ll never use it -- you may be surprised at what college students are willing to do before succumbing to boredom.

Bluetooth Speaker

Music plays day in and day out in college dorms -- if they don’t already have a speaker, chances are they want one even if they haven’t asked for it.

Blasting music is a pastime that never gets old -- especially when friends are around and the party's just getting started. College students take their music seriously and go to great lengths to make an entire playlist just for one night.

After spending the time to craft their perfect playlist, they’ll need a device to play it. Some speakers can be connected together and play the same music at the same time -- this is great when the volume needs to be amplified.

In a world when students play music while studying, relaxing, driving, laying around, hanging out with friends, and even while in the shower -- a speaker is a necessary part of life.

This is probably the best gift you can purchase if you want to be assured your college student will use it. We’ll even go as far as to guarantee they’ll probably use it on a daily basis.

Matching Passport Cover and Luggage Tag

Matching items make everything feel right because they are put together and look cute. Image courtesy of Pinterest.

Around the time of college, the travel bug begins setting and before you know it -- your student will have dreams of jet setting all over the globe. The best part is colleges offer a variety of travel opportunities.

Students can elect to do an entire year or semester abroad -- or if this is too much, some colleges offer one to two week long classes in a different country in between academic semesters. These usually take place in January or May.

Once your student has caught the travel bug and obtained their passport -- they’ll be ready to leave the country in a flash. A luggage tag is essential when traveling abroad because baggage tends to get lost, and the owner cannot be found without this identifying information. A matching luggage tag and passport cover is a cute touch they’ll love.

Gift Card to Their Favorite Cafe/Restaurant

Gift cards are like gold to college students -- especially when it gives them an excuse to eat off campus. Image courtesy of Considerable.

This one may seem obvious -- but we can’t stress the importance enough. At some point in every college student’s career, the dining hall becomes unbearable, and your stomach just can’t handle it anymore.

They’ve eaten the same food on repeat for days, months, years, etc ., and by that point everything tastes the same. Some students turn to cooking ramen noodles in their dorm rooms over eating another slice of pizza at the dining hall.

When they have a gift card laying around, they WILL use it. Nowadays, college students spend tons of money eating out specifically to avoid the dining hall -- this adds up fast. Any little bit helps and they will use the entire gift card in a matter of weeks -- maybe even days if you pick one for a coffee shop.

Mini Waffle Maker

This cute little waffle maker can nearly fit in the palm of your hand. For $10, you can buy the waffle mix to go with it. Waffle mix usually requires oil, but some mixes only call for water -- so this is a super simply and easy meal to cook. If you have $50 to spend, you might even buy a cute bowl and whisk to put everything together.

This mini waffle maker is another great way of avoiding a dining hall breakfast and is perfect for a weekend morning when they want to get out of bed at their leisure and not rush to get to breakfast.

Waffles can also be made for friends and can be a fun pastime on a boring weekend. They will have a lot of fun using this mini waffle maker.

A lapdesk comes in handy whenever your student wants to remain in their dorm room while completing the rest of their work.

It’s true that after a busy day spent attending classes, other events, doing homework and more -- a trip to the library or technology center is just too much to ask. Sometimes the appeal to lay in bed and do homework is too strong to overcome.

With a lapdesk, they can sit in bed and comfortably finish their work. The padded board will protect their legs from the heat given off by their laptops and raise their work to eye level. This way they won’t experience the neck strain associated from looking down.

This is another gift that will definitely see frequent use. They will thank you during one of those high stress days when leaving the room is unbearable.

There is bound to be a gift on this list that fits your college student’s interests, hobbies, or necessities. Anything that will make college life a little bit easier will make them happy and they will thank you for it! Make this the best holiday season yet with one of the amazing gifts on this list.
